The vehicle tracking systems and tracers of Moving Intelligence are connected to the online platform via the GSM network. You may have heard or read somewhere that the 2G network for the Internet of Things (IoT) will be phased out in the coming years and replaced by the 4G network. No worries: In the Netherlands, you can continue to use your Moving Intelligence systems without any issues, whether on 2G or 4G. But what about other countries, and how do we ensure that you stay connected?
Do you have a system from 2022 or earlier, do you often travel abroad with your car or camper, and do you want to avoid any risks if the 2G network is switched off there? Contact us for a proposal to upgrade your system. This can be done with newer hardware that connects to both 2G and 4G networks and automatically switches during transitions.
In Switzerland, the 2G network has already been shut down. Older hardware does not connect to the platform there. This could mean that you won’t be able to disable an immobiliser with the MiApp while in Switzerland. Therefore, make sure that when you travel to or through Switzerland, you always carry the emergency card, Active Tag, or the emergency key with you.
Good to know if you have trip logigng service: when the tracking system cannot connect to the network, the data on the online platform and app will be updated as soon as the connection is restored. All your journeys are logged and will not be lost.
Instead of upgrading or replacing your hardware to 4G, we can also connect your vehicles without a device. You can connect using the hardware already installed in your car by the manufacturer (OEM), giving you access to a wide range of vehicle data. This is already possible with many new vehicles and with an increasing number of brands. It’s especially convenient if you manage multiple vehicles and want to easily scale up or down. Let our expert advise you on the best solution for you.
