Moving Intelligence appoints Jan Smit as new CFO

The Supervisory Board of Directors of Moving Intelligence has appointed Jan Smit (47) as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The former Leaseplan executive, early-stage investor and ex strategy consultant has a diverse financial, operational and strategic skillset that will help scale the business internationally, develop new strategic use cases and actively pursue the buy-and-build strategy.
Nieuwsitem CFO Jan Smit

Smit has over twenty years of international experience in scaling up companies and departments and brings a cross-sectoral and multifunctional background to the table with an emphasis on fleet management. He most notably led the charge in expanding Leaseplan into the Middle-East and Asia as CFO for those respective regions. Jan started his career at Bain & Company specialising in due diligence projects for PE clients. After an MBA at Kellogg, he was responsible for Strategy and M&A at a large Dutch bank insurance company.

On his appointment, Jan said: “When I learned about Moving Intelligence it quickly became clear to me that this company is the ideal platform for a successful buy and build strategy. Under Patrick Horst’s leadership MI became the leader in the Dutch vehicle tracking and security market. The next stage is to build a European network through which MI can service international clients with its best-in-class services and at the same time achieve further scale benefits. This journey has many similarities with my past experiences at LeasePlan. Equally important for my decision to accept this challenge was the very high quality of the Volpi investor team around MI. I look forward to becoming a crucial part of this journey.”

Patrick Horst, Moving Intelligence CEO: “Jan has the perfect profile to help realize our ambitions. Coming on board during a period where we are seeing so many growth levers present themselves to us, he is already proving more than capable in helping us decide and execute on them. The intellectual curiosity, willingness to act and positive attitude he has displayed so far equate to there being no doubt in my mind he will be a strong addition to our team.”

Voertuigdiefstallen 2023
